Your Website. We Manage It.

Managed Website Servicesin Monterey Bay

My websites have been trusted by everyone from local small businesses and nonprofits to global brands with millions in online revenue. I run WebMonterey solo, so the work stays accountable, the quality stays consistent, and you always have a dedicated person for your business needs.

You’re not paying for a website. You’re paying for the person behind it — before, during, and long after.

Who Do You Hire to Build and Manage a Website?

An agency gives you a team you never meet. A freelancer does one part well, then hands you off for the rest. A template does all of it at once and leaves you looking like a thousand other businesses. There is a fourth answer: one person who does the whole job, and is still the one answering afterwards.

Website Designer

Good design is done with intent. It is deciding what a visitor sees first and what they do next, not settling for what a pre-made template handcuffs you to.

  • Custom website design, never a template or a theme
  • Mobile-first layouts that read well on a phone
  • Designed around your customers, not around a trend
  • You approve the design before any code is written

What Can I Build for Your Business?

Most businesses start with the first of these. Some grow into the second, and a few into the third. All three sit on the same foundation, so growing into the next one is never a rebuild.

About Me
  • Custom Websites

Built around what your business actually does, not adapted from a layout drawn for someone else. Anything pre-built limits what you can do with it, and it does not save you time or money in the end. Just like AI-generated sites now being sold.

  • Web Applications

Booking, client portals, dashboards — the parts of your business a brochure site cannot carry. Each of those is usually a third-party subscription with your data living on someone else’s platform. Built into your own site, it is yours.

  • Automated AI Workflows

The manual work nobody should still be doing by hand: copying data between systems, chasing the same follow-ups, retyping the same information. Automate it and you get those hours back every week, without hiring anyone to cover them.

Website Features

What’s Included When I Manage Your Website?

Everything here is part of the monthly rate. There is no upgrade to buy, and no second company to call when something goes wrong.

  • Web Hosting

Managed hosting is part of the rate, not a separate bill and not a control panel you have to log into. If the site goes down, I already know.

  • Domain Management

Registration, DNS record configurations and renewals handled, so nothing expires. The domain stays in your name.

  • Website Email Delivery

A premium email notification service is included, so system alerts and web form submissions land in your inbox reliably.

  • Local, In Person

Monterey based and Monterey licensed. If it is easier to sit down and talk something through, that is on the table here.

  • Direct Communications

Every client gets a private Signal group, so a question is a message rather than an email thread. Mitigating scattered emails and messages.

  • Technical Benefits

SSL, DDoS protection and a global CDN, configured and included. The things a site needs to be fast and safe should not arrive as line items.

  • Not Sure Where Your Website Stands?

Send me your URL and I will tell you what I would change first. No charge, and no pitch.

Monterey Bay Websites

Website Questions, Answered.

The questions I get asked most when someone is comparing me against an agency quote, a template builder, or the last freelancer who stopped answering. If yours isn’t here, the answer to “still have questions?” is — yes, ask me.

What does the monthly rate actually cover?

Both plans cover the parts that keep a website standing: version-controlled hosting, domain and DNS management, uptime monitoring, SSL, DDoS protection, a global CDN, and a premium email service so form submissions actually reach you. None of it is an add-on or a separate bill. The difference between the plans is changes. On Basic you pay for service requests as they come up. On Standard, content changes are unlimited, with three hours of strategy work included each month.

Is there a contract, and how long am I committed for?

Yes. Service runs on an annual agreement rather than month to month, which is what holds the monthly rate fixed for the whole year. At the end of the term you decide whether to renew. There is no penalty and no exit fee for choosing not to.

How long does it take to build a website?

The average build takes two to three weeks. What moves that number is scope and how quickly you can get back to me. Content and approvals are usually the long pole, not the code.

Can you take over a website someone else built?

That is most of the work. Send me your URL and I will tell you what I would change first — no charge, and no pitch. If it is worth continuing, the site moves onto managed hosting and I take over the domain, the DNS records, the monitoring and the updates from there.

Can you move my website off Wix, Squarespace or GoDaddy?

Yes. Most websites can be migrated and converted without much trouble, whatever they were built on. You keep your content and your domain. What changes is everything underneath — and you stop renting the platform your business sits on.

Do you build on templates, themes or page builders?

No. Every site is custom designed — no themes, no page builders, and no stack of plugins covering the gaps. Page builders ship a pile of code you never asked for, and every plugin added on top is another thing that can break. It matters beyond page speed. The structure underneath is what decides whether search engines and AI tools can read your site at all.

Do I own my website and my domain?

Yes. The website is yours, and the domain is registered in your name. While I manage it, the code lives in a GitHub repository and deploys to my Cloudflare account — that is what makes the hosting, the CDN, the SSL and the DDoS protection part of your rate instead of four bills you deal with yourself. If you ever leave, the repository is handed over to you. There is no licence to keep paying for and no proprietary platform underneath it.

Who actually does the work?

I do. Design, development, maintenance and strategy are the same pair of hands, which is why nothing gets lost in a handoff — there is no handoff. Nothing is sent offshore. WebMonterey is Monterey based and Monterey licensed, and when something is easier to talk through in person, we can meet.

How do I get hold of you day to day?

Call, text, email, or message the private Signal group I set up for every client — whichever is easiest at the time. There is no support ticket queue and nobody in between. You are messaging me.

What counts as strategy work?

Research, consulting, strategy reports, performance reviews and meetings — the thinking rather than the building. It also covers time spent working with your other contractors on your behalf, whether that is an agency, a photographer or whoever handles your advertising. It is three hours a month on the Standard plan, separate from content changes, which are unlimited. Anything past those three hours is billed at the plan's service rate.

Can you build more than a website?

Yes, and it often goes that way. A website turns into a web application — booking, a client portal, a dashboard — and from there into automation that handles the repetitive work behind it. It is the same foundation growing rather than a second project starting, which is why moving up is never a rebuild.

Will my website be found by search engines and AI?

It starts with how the site is built. Both read the structure underneath before anything else, and a site buried in page-builder markup gives them very little to work with. Past that it means analytics reviews that say what to change rather than what happened, digital marketing measured against revenue rather than impressions, and a bi-annual performance review on the Standard plan. The difference from hiring an agency separately is that I can go and change the site, rather than sending you a report about it.

Do you only work with clients in the Monterey Bay area?

Local businesses and nonprofits are the heart of it, and the work has also run out to national and global brands — the clients above include organisations working across the United States and worldwide. Being local is how I work, not a limit on who I work with.
